SPRING 2011 Fragrance Favorites

Hi Hi Hi!! In this post, I will be explaining/recommending my favorite perfume choices for this Spring. Now beware, everyone has a different preference for scents, and all perfumes smell different on one another. So please understand that some of these perfumes may smell horrible to you but amazing to others! (vice versa) Just keep that in mind. Enjoy!

If you can label a perfume "elegant/classy," this would be it! Tocca's Eau de Parfum in Stella ($68 for 1.7 fl oz.) is feminine, chic, and gorgeous! Tocca describes the perfume as
"impetuous and moody as a rebellious young Italian beauty, Stella attracts your senses with blood orange and spicy lily. A flirtatious combination of white freesia, wild diamond orchids, sheer musk and sandalwood create a fresh, sensual fragrance." When I smell this perfume, I do get notes of blood orange, orchids, freesia, and sandalwood. I do not consider a "spicy lily" smell peeking out of this fragrance nor a musky tone. Very floral and girly, Stella gives a sweet smell that is not sugary. The packaging is beautiful. The classic "floral" smell of this perfume makes this scent perfect for Springtime 2011!

This scent is absolutely MOUTHWATERING! Kate Spade's Eau de Parfum in Twirl ($80 for 3.4 fl oz) contains "pink watermelon mingles with blackberry and red currant" and finished with "luminous musks and a touch of french macaroon."The fruity-ness of this perfume makes it a lovely choice for Spring. Twirl gives a refreshing twist to an everyday scent. You should go check this out! There are conveniently smaller sizes to help you save money! A rollerball ($18) and a 1.7 fl oz bottle ($65) is available. Personally, just spend an extra $15 for double the amount of product. It's worth it!! This perfume is lovely and I can't imagine anyone hating it.

Ok, this is totally not what I usually go for (celebrity perfumes in general), but Katy Perry's Purr ($65 for 3.4 oz, $45 for 1.7 oz) is pretty yummy! "Fresh citrus accord featuring peach nectar and forbidden apple with green bamboo" are the main components.  "Supporting notes include a delicate bouquet of jasmine blossom, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose, balanced by vanilla orchid, white amber, creamy sandalwood and musk." I never thought I would like a celebrity perfume because of the general sugary scent that the majority of their perfumes have, but Katy Perry changed that! This one definitely stands out, just like Katy herself! There is a slight musky wooden smell to balance out the sweet in this perfume, which I adore. Packaging is cute, and I look forward to seeing Katy Perry's beauty ventures expand!

Extras:
Hey, here are some of my favorite components that I search for in fragrances!
Peach
Lily
Orchid
Rose
Sandalwood
Lemon
Nectar
Apple
Lavender
Cherry Blossom
Daisies
and more!

Other fragrances I reccommend:
1) Marc Jacob's Daisy
2) Miss Dior Cherie
3) Dior J'adore
4) Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey
5) Ralph by Ralph Lauren (blue bottle)

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE these fragrances! Wish I could put them all up!

I hope you enjoyed these picks! Please follow, comment, subscribe, whatever! Love you all and happy Springtime!

SPLASH Clean and Clear Body Wash Review

After hearing about this product from a Youtube beauty guru, I gave this product a go! There are three body washes to choose from including:

CHARGE: Pomegranate and Orange Zest
BOOST: Mango and Papaya
SPLASH: Guava and Wildberry (My favorite)

Net Weight: 16 OZ
Company: Clean and Clear (Johnson & Johnson)
Where to buy: Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens
Link: Drugstore.com ($5.99)
Price: $5-$6

The point of this body wash is to give you a morning boost to wake you up! It has "bursting beads" which work as exfoliants for your body. Personally, my favorite scent is SPLASH. It smells like blueberry candy (which has a certain scent that is not relatable to actual blueberry AT ALL.) I do take my showers before bed, so this wash does not exactly fit my routine perfectly. Anyways, the scent of SPLASH is absolutely divine out of the three. I do wish there were more exfoliating beads because I can barely see them when I squeeze the product out! A little of the wash goes a long way, so it lasts quite a while. One setback is that it has a heavy residue if too much product is squeezed out. The packaging is fun, and I do plan to repurchase this product. (if i ever run out!!)

Mascara Reviews

Hey!! So basically, I have not found my perfect mascara yet. I have gone through about five tubes and have not really "loved" any of them. Currently, I am using Lash Stiletto Mascara, which is really elongating but not long lasting whatsoever. Previously, I had been using Telescopic Explosion Mascara by Loreal which was a clumpy mess!! Down below I rated mascaras that I have used in the past. Enjoy.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Mascara in Black
Net Weight: 0.22 OZ

Company: Maybelline
Where to buy: ULTA, Walmart, CVS
Link: Walmart ($7)
Price: $6-$10
Grade: B+

Very hip packaging, okay pricing, but the product is just not too impressive. I have heard wonderful things about their Voluptuous Mascara in the Stiletto collection as well, but I have not given it a try myself. It does not last all day, and it gives up the curl in my lashes. BUT, it separates lashes like no other, so if you are looking for that, give it a try. I do like the pigment of this mascara but I do think there are better ones out there on the market!

Starry Eyed Edgy Look

Hey readers! I created this look to wear for a night out at a party or fancy dinner. This is a smokey eye that includes grey and charcoal tones. I hope you enjoy! Products and duplicates will be listed below.

Prime your eyes. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion ($18) all over my lid, crease, brow bone, and inner corner. Then, I used a flat shader brush and put Benefit Eyeshadow in Peachy Sheen just on my lid. This color is used as a base to add a subtle glow under the gray/silver color I will be putting over.

Then, I patted Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Gunmetal ($17) over the pink glow using the other side of the flat shader brush. Gunmetal is a shimmery grey with plenty of pigment!

OMG

I was looking through my drawers, and BOOM! there it was. A Daisy Marc Jacobs Luminous Body Lotion! I had completely forgotten about it, and I was beaming for about 10 minutes straight after discovering it at the bottom of my drawer. Anyways, the daisy line is beautiful, and even though it came out last year, it will bring a fresh vibe to your Spring fragrance! This lotion is deeeellliiccciicccoouus. (hope you can read that!) I got this lotion in a set, but they do sell it online at Sephora for $35.00. I really do recommend this lotion, get a tester and tell me what you think. xo

Hallelujah.

Bronze Yourself For This SUMMER/SPRING!

Bronzer has a dual effect. Contouring your face with a shade slightly darker than your skin creates the face shape you are dreaming of! The other method is applying a shimmery bronzer to the apples of your cheeks (the fat part when you smile...) or on your cheekbones to warm up your face for a sun-kissed look. This method is used as a blusher, but a brown toned powder instead of traditional pink. My favorite bronzer for contouring is a matte medium brown/tan color because I have a medium/olive skin tone. For the apples of my cheeks, shimmer is the way to go! Here are some bronzers that I recommend and one that I do NOT like. Also, keep reading for some bronzer do/don'ts!

BEST

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Net Weight: 0.28 OZ
Company: Nars Cosmetics
Where to buy: Sephora, Nordstroms, Bloomingdale's
Link: Nars Website $33.00 +shipping
Price: $33.00
Okay. So what do you expect? Of course I am going to add this to the list! I myself do not think this shade shows up or flatters my skin tone well, but thousands of other people beg to differ. Maybe I just need to give it another try! Who knows... Anyways, this shade is pretty "buildable" on your skin, and is one of the most raved about bronzers! It has a touch of shimmer but is still great for contouring! The huge compact makes it last quite a while. $33.00 is pretty steep, but it's okay to splurge once in a while!

Physician's Formula Happy Boost Bronzer

Net Weight: 0.40 OZ
Company: Physician's Formula
Where to buy: CVS, Target, Ulta
Link: Ulta ($13.99)
Price: $13.99

This bronzer is awesome!!! The rosy heart in the middle adds a beautiful pink undertone that warms up the whole product! Just take a fluffy brush and you are good to go! There is a right balance of light, medium, and pink tones that make this bronzer just right. The pigmentation is okay too, and the size is quite large. This drugstore bronzer is quite a pick.

 WORST
Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer

Net Weight: 0.20 OZ
Company: Maybelline
Where to buy: CVS, Rite Aid, Ulta
Price: $4-$7

YAY! Muddy silly putty on your face! Not. This bronzer is something you should stay away from if you see it. It is thick, gross, and worst of all, orange. Even from this picture it looks unpleasing to the eye. No cream bronzers from a jar/palette have impressed me yet, so I will keep on the look out! Anyways please do not waste your money even if it is $5.00 on Ulta.

7 Lip Glosses That Taste Like A Fresh Donut On Your Lips 24/7 (Not Really.)

Okay. So Most of these scents don't even come close to the smell of a donut. But I had to get you to keep reading!! Anyways, here are 7 lip products that smell, taste, and look beautiful on YOUR lips!

Smith's Lip Balm in Minted Rose

Net Weight: 0.8 OZ
Company: Rosebud Perfume Co.
Where to buy: Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie
Link: Sephora.com ($7.00)
Price: $6-$9

You DEFINITELY need to check this out! I personally love the "Minted Rose" scent best out of the three, which include the original Rosebud Salve scent, which have rosy and flowery notes, and then the Strawberry Scented Rosebud Lip Balm which smells like artificial strawberries. The finish of this lip balm is a sheer gloss that makes your lips melt. I personally think the packaging is quite cute because it reminds me of a vintage pioneer town. Weird, right? Anyways, this gloss with a simple Spring eye look to accompany it makes this a definite favorite. This gloss needs to be reapplied often to keep the finish from when you first put it on, but the pigment of the gloss stays on your lips for quite a long time! If you run into this product at a local store, definitely swatch it on your palm and see how it goes from there!

Melon Daiquiri Lip Shine

Net Weight: 0.5 OZ
Company: Philosophy
Where to buy: Sephora, Ulta, Macys
Link: Philosophy Link ($10.00)
Price: $10.00

Sweet, Sparkly, and PINK! My favorite combination. This gloss has definitely made a statement in the makeup world for its fruity irresistible smell. The formula is very hydrating and sticky, sticky, sticky! I noticed that the thick formula can be a drawback, but the thicker the longer it lasts! I am not a sticky gloss fan generally, but the finish, color, and scent win me over. Overall, this gloss is worth giving a try, especially if you are a Nars Lipgloss fan from similar textures. Philosophy has definitely created a fun product!

ELF Hypershine Gloss in Bubblegum

Net Weight: 0.05 OZ
Company: Eyes Lips Face
Where to buy: Target, eyeslipsface.com
Link: eyelipsface.com ($1.00)
Price: $1.00!

Even though it doesn't taste like bubblegum, it sure looks like it! This frosty pink gloss is beautiful for Spring trends, with a pastel tradition that looks fabulous! ELF's pricing is fenomenal! Even though the amount of gloss is smaller than most, the price makes it worth it. The texture of this gloss is fairly smooth, and the packaging duplicates Stila's famous Lip Products. The majority of the colors are gorgeous and definitely worth looking at online.

Evolution of Smooth Lip Balm

Net Weight: 0.25 OZ
Company: Evolution of Smooth (EOS)
Where to buy: Target, Walmart, Walgreens
Link: Walgreens ($3.49)
Price: $2.94-$5.00

Honestly, not amazed. The only reason this product has made the list was because of the beautiful scent of peach rings. I know, its supposed to resemble "Summer Fruit," but honestly my favorite candy's scent in a lip balm makes anything an A+. The packaging is original and cute, but the texture after five minutes is not very pleasing. Once dry, there is a invisible layer sitting on your lips that will not go away unless applied heavily again or wiped off. But for $3 and an award winning scent in my eyes, this product is pretty cool.

Beauty Rush Minty Lip Shine
Net Weight: 0.46 OZ
Company: Victoria's Secret
Where to buy: Victoria's Secret
Link: Victoria's Secret ($7.00)
Price: $7.00, or 2 for $12.00

ZINGGG! Peppermint has overwhelmed my senses! (In a positive sense...) This gloss is yummy! I am impressed because I do not expect much in Lingerie company beauty products. This gloss smells great and isn't sticky! What I love about this gloss is that it is clear. Anyone can put their favorite lipstick on and sweep this product over without compromising the color of the lipstick but adds a beautiful shiny finish! Definitely worth $7, and I look forward to testing other products they offer!

Sephora Sweet Candy Gloss in Apple-Pomegranate
Net Weight: 0.37 OZ
Company: Sephora Brand
Where to buy: Sephora
Link: Sephora $5.00
Price: $5.00

Unfortunately, the flavor I adore is not sold around in major retailers. I am sure that a makeup seller online carries this scent though. Anyways, this fruity delight makes your mouth water! This Sephora product impressed me with the pigment and scent. One issue was that the applicator broke off so I have to use a lip brush to apply it! Not a big deal, but it would be greatly appreciated if it was reinforced. Stays on for an average of an hour then starts to fade. I like this product.

Thanks for bearing through with me! I know this wasn't too helpful because of my obsession of fruity scents coming in the way of grading the overall product, but look out for more reviews, looks, pictures, and tutorials on products for this season! Tell me what YOU think of these products. Comment below! Thats what really matters...Love you all! Please follow!
